Live Vehicle Data Streamlines Fleet Service Planning
Shiftmove Extends Avrios Fleet Management Software with Real-Time Condition Monitoring
Berlin, February 3rd, 2026 – The technical condition of vehicles in Germany is deteriorating. According to the TÜV Report 20261, more than one in five vehicles now exhibits significant or dangerous defects. This marks the fourth consecutive increase in the defect rate. For companies operating vehicle fleets, this trend translates into growing risks for safety, costs, and vehicle availability. With the introduction of real-time condition monitoring in its fleet management software Avrios, Shiftmove - one of Europe’s leading providers of digital fleet technology - directly addresses this market challenge and elevates fleet management to a new level of automation.
From Reactive to Predictive: Vehicle Service on Autopilot
Automatic service interval notifications powered by live vehicle data enable fleet managers, for the first time, to monitor the technical condition of their vehicles in real time directly within Avrios - without any additional hardware. The new feature accesses OEM telematics data straight from the vehicle, making service and maintenance management fully data-driven.
Condition monitoring is part of Avrios’ Connected Cars add-on and uses live vehicle data to identify maintenance needs at an early stage, automatically trigger service tasks, notify drivers in a timely manner, confirm completion, and document all actions end to end. This eliminates manual checks and ensures service deadlines are no longer missed. Depending on fleet type, companies can save up to €150 per vehicle per year - particularly in highly utilized leasing and service fleets.
“Many fleets still plan maintenance manually and only react once issues arise,” says Felix Schmidt, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Shiftmove. “With Avrios condition monitoring, we are breaking away from this industry standard. Service compliance is being fully automated for the first time - reliably and without any additional technical effort.”
Rising Defects, Rising Cost Pressure
The new feature is particularly relevant for fleets with high service demands, such as leased and warranty vehicles, where delayed maintenance can result in the loss of warranty coverage, as well as service and operational vehicles whose downtime has a direct impact on productivity and revenue. Internal analyses by Avrios show that delayed maintenance can significantly increase repair costs - by up to 40 percent in individual cases.
At the same time, administrative pressure is increasing. Staff shortages, manual reminders, Excel spreadsheets, and driver follow-ups consume time and often lead to gaps. Estimates suggest that fleet managers lose 5–10 minutes per vehicle per month on manual service checks alone.
Automation Tackles Rising Complexity
With condition monitoring in Avrios, Shiftmove takes another step toward fully automated fleets. Administrative effort is significantly reduced, vehicle availability increases, and maintenance is performed at the right time. At the same time, automated service compliance protects warranties, lowers repair costs, and reduces unplanned downtime.
Setting a New Standard in Fleet Management
While many solutions on the market rely on additional hardware or isolated telematics systems, Shiftmove integrates condition monitoring seamlessly into its fleet management software Avrios. “Fleet managers shouldn’t have to deal with individual administrative tasks,” says Schmidt. “Our vision is clear: fleet management on autopilot. Avrios transforms manual processes into intelligent, data-driven workflows and gives companies back control.”
Further expansion stages are already planned. Notifications for dashboard indicators and warning lights, sourced directly from vehicle data, will soon provide early alerts of potential vehicle issues - enabling proactive action and reducing downtime.
